Humboldt County supervisors continue hearing on coastal lighting ordinance to Aug. 11

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 at a special meeting to continue a public hearing on a proposed "light coastal lighting ordinance" and to re‑advertise the item for Aug. 11.

Director Ford told the board the item had been advertised for the July 6 Board of Supervisors hearing and recommended opening the public hearing then continuing it. "This is a request for a continuance for the light coastal lighting ordinance," Ford said, adding that the item "will be renoticed" for Aug. 11. There was a brief clarification about the originally advertised date, during which a speaker misstated the day as the 7th before the record was corrected to the 6th.

A motion to continue the hearing and re‑advertise the ordinance was made and a second was recorded. The board opened the floor for public comment, checked both the online feed and the meeting room, and received none; public comment was closed. On roll call the vote carried 3‑0, with Supervisors Bone and Madrone recorded as voting yes and Vice Chair Supervisor Arroyo voting yes. Supervisors Bushnell and Chair Wilson were absent.

The continuance means the board will consider the ordinance again at its Aug. 11 meeting after staff completes the re‑advertisement. No additional materials, amendments, or dates for return were specified at the meeting.
