Staff reports timeline for decarbonization roadmap; roadmap could unlock up to $1 million for municipal building upgrades

Deputy Town Manager Megan Zammuto updated the committee on several staff-led initiatives that support Concord’s Climate Action and Resilience Plan.
Megan said the Town received a $100,000 MVP 2.0 grant and is moving to contract Weston & Sampson as the planning vendor to lead that grant-funded work. She also reported on the SuAsCo Climate Collaborative’s outreach and upcoming public meeting on June 25 in Ashland.
On the Decarbonization Roadmap, Megan said staff is collecting feedback from Power Options and plans to present the document to the Select Board and school committee; acceptance of the roadmap is the last required element to qualify as a Climate Leader and would make Concord eligible for up to $1 million in municipal decarbonization grants. Staff emphasized the roadmap is high level and that deeper, building-level systems analysis may require an ESCO partnership or additional technical work.
Megan also noted related community engagement events and planning milestones: the MCI master planning charrette (June 8–11), a native planting event on June 17, and a virtual Climate Action Plan workshop on May 28. Staff will continue stakeholder interviews (schools, planning/zoning, land groups) to inform the plan update.
