Middle Country presents Cohen Strong student mental‑health initiative with Northwell partnership

Presenters described Cohen Strong as a student‑led mental‑health internship combining certification, advocacy and community action. The program — presented to the board on June 17 — partners with Northwell Health to deliver teen Mental Health First Aid, peer leadership skills and implementation support for student projects across both Newfield and Center Reach High Schools.

Program components highlighted by presenters include student leadership and advocacy trainings, crisis‑identification skills, and a legislative advocacy trip to Albany where students met elected officials to press for increased mental‑health funding.
