The superintendent then announced that “custodian Caleb Dunigan has submitted his letter of resignation effective immediately,” and recommended the board accept it; the board moved, seconded and approved the resignation by voice vote.
The superintendent said director JP Royer requested approval to hire Ferguson Construction to install a fire‑rated door at Hope Elementary at a cost of $8,180. “Mister president, I would recommend the work group to hire Ferguson Construction,” the superintendent said. Board members asked about scope; one member explained the work will require cutting through an existing metal framed wall, tying into existing floors and that there is no electrical or concrete work adjacent to the door. The motion to authorize the work was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board also approved an overnight field trip for the boys cross‑country team. The superintendent relayed athletic director Kyle Shipps’ recommendation for a trip to Lincoln State Park from Sunday, July 26 through Wednesday, July 29; a motion to approve the trip was made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
Under other business the superintendent proposed canceling the first Tuesday July meeting and holding one meeting on Tuesday, July 21. The board moved, seconded and approved removing the July 7 meeting from the calendar; the superintendent noted the Aug. 4 meeting would remain on the schedule to address last‑minute items before students return.
A board member also congratulated the boys baseball team for reaching the final four; the superintendent echoed thanks to the community for supporting the team. The board adjourned following a motion and second.
