Select Board discussion: forest-reserve easement and Silver Maple Forestry contract update

A committee member (S5) said the contract reduction and liability provision requested by the Select Board remain under negotiation with the forester (Marin). S5 said a surveyor (meeting with John Spear, Sally and Sandra) has prepared a proposed easement description and mapped where the easement would go. Because the easement would encumber town land, S5 said the proposal must be presented and approved at the town meeting (June). If approved, S5 said the town lawyer will finalize the deed and obtain title insurance required for future work with Landform.
S2 (Chair) and other participants agreed the matter is in progress and that timelines mean the town must wait for the proper legal steps before executing the easement or moving forward with commissioning work under the new contract.
Next steps identified in the discussion include submitting the proposed easement to the town meeting agenda for June and completing contractual revisions and title work afterwards.
