Appling County approves SPLOST 2024 budget and sets $15,000 cap on probate fee retention; several routine motions pass

Commissioners Theodore Wilkerson and Charlie Leggett voted in favor; Commissioner Randy Sellers opposed. Buildings & Grounds staff presented bids for a lift and the board approved buying the lower bid from Ag Pro (John Deere) for $40,825.00. Commissioner Wilkerson moved to award the purchase to Ag Pro; Commissioner Randy Sellers seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board reappointed Gerry Moore as Appling County's representative to the Heart of Georgia Regional Development Center. Commissioner Wilkerson moved to reappoint Moore; Commissioner Sellers seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
A resolution to cap the portion of vital-records fees retained as compensation by Probate Judge Gretchen Bailey was presented and approved. Commissioner Doug Harris moved to approve the attached resolution; Commissioner Sellers seconded; the board voted unanimously to cap retained vital-records fee compensation at $15,000.
The meeting's formal votes were routine in nature and mainly dealt with administrative, personnel and capital-equipment matters. No sheriff's report was given at the meeting.
