The board heard a presentation from Jennifer Wanstead, account executive with 44North/Acrisure, who reviewed plan performance, coverages and renewal rates. County Administrator and HR Director Michelle Knepp noted open enrollment meetings are tentatively scheduled for Nov. 21, 2024 and said the county will amend its budget to reflect higher costs.
The motion to authorize renewal and amend the budget (Motion 2024-269) was made by Commissioner Libby Marsh and seconded by Commissioner Ted Handrich and passed on a 5-0 roll call (Handrich, Bondar, McCauley, Varner, Marsh voting yes). The board record listed a combined current cost of $961,996 and a combined renewal cost of $1,104,781, for a net increase of $142,785 (14.84%).
The board directed staff to incorporate the renewal figures into the county’s 2025 budget planning and to proceed with the advertised open enrollment sessions. No public comment or formal amendments to the insurer proposal were recorded during the presentation.
Next procedural steps: open enrollment meetings are planned for Nov. 21, and the renewed premiums will be reflected in the county budget amendments approved by the board.
