Moberly council awards Fire Station No. 2 contract, adopts industrial park plat

The Moberly City Council voted Thursday to award the construction contract for Fire Station No. 2 and training center to Reinhardt Construction LLC and adopted plats for two development projects, steps city leaders said will support local growth.
The council approved a resolution accepting Reinhardt Construction’s bid for project PR‑23004 and authorized the city manager to execute a contract. Bugowski, who introduced Reinhardt’s representatives in the gallery, told the council the firm will handle construction and related recording of federal interest notices. The motion to read and adopt the resolution was moved and seconded and carried without recorded opposition.
Council members also completed the required readings and adopted an ordinance approving a replat for a multi‑lot subdivision (lots 6–17) and an ordinance approving the Moberly Area Industrial Park Plat 2. Mayor and several council members described the industrial park addition as a grant‑funded, turnkey opportunity intended to attract business to the city.
The city previously opened and marked as received multiple bids for Fire Station No. 2 earlier in the meeting; the resolution accepting Reinhardt’s bid moves the procurement to the contracting phase. City staff confirmed representatives from Reinhardt Construction were present to answer questions.
The actions follow recent council work on infrastructure and development incentives, including staff comments that some industrial park improvements were funded by grants. The council did not detail the contract amount in the public reading; awarding the contract advances the project to the implementation stage and staff indicated further administrative steps and contract execution will follow.
The council adjourned the regular meeting and convened a work session where related development topics — including a proposed development advisory committee and infill‑housing incentives — were discussed and staff was directed to follow up with proposed committee members and peer communities.
