Trustees to seek estimates to repair Tonry Cemetery walkways; consider bequest funds

The trustees agreed July 9 to seek estimates to lift and reset cobblestone walkways and refresh pea stone at Tonry Cemetery after the superintendent described weed growth and stones sinking below grade.
The superintendent said she is getting multiple quotes and suggested using a life/bequest fund (restricted to section 5 uses) or the general cemetery maintenance fund to pay for the work. "I think we have it in the general cemetery maintenance fund," she said, adding that the bequest money has not been used and could be appropriate.
Trustees asked for contact information for local hardscape contractors and suggested involving a family contact who has done similar work. The superintendent said she will gather estimates and present them at the next meeting, at which trustees expect to vote to approve the contract and submit paperwork to the trustee of trust funds for formal disbursement.
