Oscoda County approves surplus sales, equipment purchases and renews emergency management contract
Summary
At its Nov. 12 meeting the Oscoda County Board authorized sealed bids for surplus airport vehicles, approved purchase of a snow blower and AEDs, transferred a small reconciliation amount, and renewed the county's emergency management coordinator contract with a yearly increase.
The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners approved several procurement and budget items during its Nov. 12 meeting, including actions to sell surplus equipment, buy maintenance and safety gear, and renew an emergency management contract.
The board rescinded a prior motion and authorized Assistant Airport Manager Brian Smutek to advertise and accept sealed bids for a 1993 Ford dump truck (VIN provided); bids are due by Dec. 4 with award planned for the Dec. 10 meeting (motion 2024-294). The board also authorized accepting sealed bids for a 1957 International tractor with belly mower to be sold as-is (motion 2024-295).
Maintenance Supervisor Rick Burton requested and the board authorized the purchase of a MK Martin snow blower (Model SB68PT, Serial E3444) for $4,000 from seller Matt Garnett, amending the budget accordingly (motion 2024-296). Payroll Specialist Jenny Cronkright asked to transfer $3.18 from a General Fund line to the Child Support account to balance it; that transfer was approved (motion 2024-297).
Emergency Management reported a request to purchase two wall-mounted AEDs for the new sheriff/dispatch building not to exceed $2,000; the board approved and amended corresponding revenue and expense lines (motion 2024-298).
The board also renewed the independent contractor agreement with Michael Bowers as Emergency Management Coordinator for Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026, including a $3,000 annual pay increase and authorization for the chairman to sign (motion 2024-299). All procurement and contract motions passed on roll-call votes as recorded.
