Plan Commission backs Bang d f Studio's request for dance and wellness studio at 1400 South Wolf Road

The Wheeling Plan Commission on July 8 recommended approval of a special-use permit allowing Bang d f Studio LLC to operate a recreational and instructional facility (dance and wellness studio) at 1400 South Wolf Road, Unit 310.

Planning staff recommended approval under Title 19 of the Wheeling Municipal Code and read six conditions into the record: a minimum of one employee must be on-site during hours of operation; all activities must occur indoors; the facility’s permitted uses are dance, fitness and wellness instruction; occasional workshops or studio-sponsored special events are allowed provided attendance does not exceed 30 people including staff and volunteers; no alcoholic beverages are permitted unless a Wheeling liquor license is obtained; and food service is limited to bottled water and commercially prepackaged snacks that do not require temperature control. Interior signage requires a Wheeling sign permit per Title 21.

Christina Posaluzna, one of the studio owners, was sworn and described the business as "a dance and wellness space where we offer Pilates, stretching, yoga, dance classes, and fitness." She said the studio will offer ballet and what she described as feminine dance, including high-heel classes for women, and confirmed the studio has two areas that allow concurrent classes. Commissioners asked about capacity and staffing; Posaluzna said she plans to staff the studio to meet the conditions, including at least one employee on site during operating hours.

After brief questions and no objections, the commission moved, seconded and voted unanimously to recommend approval. Staff told the applicants the recommendation will be transmitted to the village board for final action on July 20 and that the applicants will receive a follow-up letter.

The commission closed the public hearing and moved on to remaining agenda items.
