Commissioner Doug Harris told the board he had visited the proposed site and a comparable facility in Vidalia, and had gathered photos and videos that could not be shown because of technical difficulties. Harris said the materials would be uploaded to the county’s website for public review. Several residents, including Steve Hughes and Wayne Canady, voiced concerns about the project.
The discussion included questions about whether existing county ordinances and code-enforcement capacity are sufficient to regulate such a use. Commissioner Harris thanked resident Jonathan Mann for assisting with research and said the county’s consideration of enforcement capacity is "already in progress." No zoning change, permit approval or formal board action on the project was taken at the meeting.
County officials said they would make the collected materials available online and follow up with any next procedural steps if formal applications or requests are submitted to the county.
