Appling County moves FY2025 budget milestones after tax digest delay

Appling County officials adjusted the FY2025 budget timeline after the county tax digest will not be completed on the earlier schedule, Finance Clerk LaFonda Solomon told the board at its May 7 meeting.
Solomon said Tax Commissioner Debra Carter advised the digest would not be available by the previously published deadlines. The board set the tax-digest publication date at Aug. 6, 2024; commissioners plan to review the proposed budget Aug. 20; they will advertise the budget Aug. 27, and project adoption of the budget and millage rate on Sept. 3, 2024.
No formal vote was recorded beyond agreement to the revised timeline. The county will proceed with the updated schedule and public notices as required by state law.
