Commissioners direct six-month custodial bid for DFCS building after lease clarification

County officials moved to solicit a six-month custodial contract for the Department of Family & Children Services (DFCS) building after DFCS said it will not cover custodial costs under the existing lease.
County Clerk Robyn Evans told commissioners the DFCS lease expires June 30, 2024 and that the original lease obligates the county to provide custodial services. Since 2016, DFCS had paid for custodial work to use a state vendor; current DFCS Director Kacie Nencioni told county officials DFCS would no longer pay for those services under the current lease language and requested the county begin custodial services July 1.
Commissioner Doug Harris moved to solicit bids for the six-month period July 1–Dec. 31, 2024; Commissioner Charlie Leggett seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously to proceed.
The solicitation is intended to cover custodial services for the remainder of the year; the board directed the county clerk to manage the bid process.
