Commissioners award $174,675 litter-pickup contract to DAP Cleaning Service

The Appling County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $174,675 bid from DAP Cleaning Service for two cycles of county litter pickup, the board learned at its May 7 meeting.
County Clerk Robyn Evans told commissioners the company requested to begin the first cycle May 8 and the second Aug. 1, to accommodate daylight hours. The City of Baxley asked the county to add seven miles to the contract; Peggy Burton, the DAP representative, said the additional mileage could be added at the same quoted per-mile rate. Commissioners accepted the bid and an addendum to include the extra miles.
The contract had been the only bid submitted. Commissioner Daryl Edwards moved to accept the bid and include the mileage addendum; Commissioner Doug Harris seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve.
The decision transfers responsibility for two countywide cleanup cycles to DAP under the agreed price and schedule. The contract text and any subsequent addenda will be maintained by the county clerk's office.
