Commissioners approve appointment, promotion and a quit-claim deed in Jan. 9 session

At its Jan. 9 meeting the Appling County Board of Commissioners approved several routine but consequential administrative actions: the replacement appointment to a regional commission seat, a personnel promotion and a property quit-claim deed.
The board unanimously appointed Reverend James Futch to the private-sector seat representing Appling County on the Heart of Georgia Regional Commission after Gerry Moore declined reappointment. Commissioner Theodore Wilkerson nominated Futch; the motion passed without objection.
Following an executive session, the board approved promoting Robert Eunice to Interim Supervisor at the county landfill; Commissioner Charlie Leggett moved approval and the board voted unanimously. Separately, the board approved a quit-claim deed to return 0.25 acres on U.S. 1 South adjacent to Cauley Road to the subsequent landowner; Commissioner Doug Harris made the motion and Commissioner Randy Sellers seconded. The minutes note this was connected to prior state Department of Transportation work and an earlier quit-claim deed related to that project.
