Appling County approves $10,000 appropriation for DFCS; chairman to sign memo

The Appling County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a $10,000 appropriation to the Appling County Department of Family & Children Services for fiscal year 2026 and directed the chairman to sign the appropriation memo.
County Manager Reid Lovett told the board the funds will be issued as reimbursements at the end of each month and that any single expenditure exceeding $500 will require approval by the DFCS director and the DFCS board. Lovett said the memo documenting the appropriation needed the chairman’s signature.
Commissioner Daryl Edwards moved to have Chairman Leslie Burch sign the county appropriations document on behalf of the board; Commissioner Ricky Barnes seconded and the motion was unanimously approved. The minutes state the motion passed without opposition.
The signed memo will document the board’s appropriation decision and the county will reimburse DFCS monthly as eligible expenditures are submitted.
