Orleans updates: Community Crossing bids, truck-wash engineering and planning candidate interview

Town staff updated the council on multiple infrastructure and administrative items, including scheduling for Community Crossing grant bids, engineering numbers for a proposed truck wash project and the process to interview a planning administrator candidate.

Chair said the town has advertised three bids for Community Crossing work and expects a bid opening at the December meeting. "We've advertised for bids, and we expect to have a bid opening at our December meeting," the Chair said, noting both that USI set the timeline and that the town retains the right to reject all bids if timing or terms are unsuitable.

On the truck-wash project (referred to in the transcript as the "eggplant" item), a staff member said engineers are still preparing output numbers needed to model scenarios and that preliminary conversations had occurred with Eric Parsley and Jessica Condrick about potential EDA funding. "Once Eric gets the truck wash output, we get some more numbers... we're getting closer there, but we're just kinda waiting on engineers," the staff member said.

The council discussed whether to interview a planning-administrator applicant; the Chair suggested arranging an executive meeting to meet the candidate and discuss expectations with Daniel and John assisting. On another utilities item, Chair said a water-related MOU request had been tabled and a general manager had recommended not granting it; staff said additional details remain to be clarified.

No formal approvals were recorded on these agenda items; staff will return with engineering numbers, bid details and recommendations for next steps.
