Board approves temporary road closure for two aerobatic events Aug. 13–Sept. 2
Summary
The board authorized a temporary closure of a dead-end road to accommodate a regional aerobatic competition (Aug. 13–16) followed by the World Aerobatic Championship (practice Aug. 17–23; competition Aug. 24–Sept. 2); organizers will provide barricades and coordinate property access.
The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors on June 22 approved a temporary closure of a dead-end section of road to accommodate two back-to-back aerobatic events this summer.
A presenter described the request, saying the regional aerobatic competition will run Aug. 13–16 and that the World Aerobatic Championship activities would follow: practice sessions Aug. 17–23 and the international competition Aug. 24–Sept. 2. He said property owners on the road had agreed to organizers accessing their property when necessary and that event staff would provide barricades and ensure access for residents when needed.
A committee member moved to approve the closure as presented; Chair Steve seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. No petitions from other members of the public were recorded during the meeting. The closure was approved as a temporary public-safety measure tied to the two scheduled aviation events.
