Board approves $420,000 South Mountain wall contract and OKs surplus-auction proceeds for grounds

The district—s director of buildings and grounds (introduced by the chair as Ryan Urmansky) told the board the EFIS envelope used on several schools in the late 1990s and early 2000s was not detailed to current construction standards and that the district plans to remove the EFIS, clean and re-insulate the wall, install Weather Guard and finish with 20-gauge steel panels. "Cost of the project is $420,000 and they would be starting in fall November of this year," he said, describing a plan that mirrored a recent, successful repair at Horace Mann Elementary.
On the surplus-equipment plan, the director said the district can use Wisconsin Surplus—s online auction platform to sell obsolete or unused equipment and retain proceeds to buy needed capital items for buildings and grounds. Staff estimated proceeds between $30,000 and $60,000 but cautioned auction returns depend on bidder interest. "It—s online auction ... we—re estimating between 30 and 60,000," the director said. Board members asked about logistics and whether previous vendors could offer discounts; staff said Jackson Associates had previously completed related repairs and that the online auction allows prospective bidders to view items by appointment.
Both items were approved by voice vote; the board instructed staff to proceed with contracting and to bring back details as needed.
