Medora board approves contract to fix air issue in town well No. 1

The staff member said he had signed a repair contract and presented it to the board, explaining crews will install an air-release valve intended to stop airlocks that prevent the chlorination system from operating properly. The Chair asked for a motion to accept the contract; the Clerk moved to accept it and the Chair announced the motion passed.
Board members discussed the length of the problem (the staff member estimated the well has been in place ‘‘30 or 40 years’’) and troubleshooting already performed, including flow and sand tests that showed the well otherwise met expected measures. The board gave staff authority to proceed with the contract so the valve can be installed and water distribution restored.
