Council appoints James Wood to tree board and reappoints Guy Zimmerman

The Cookeville City Council approved one appointment and one reappointment to the tree board during its June 18 meeting.
Miss Elrod presented the tree board's recommendation to appoint James Wood to fill a one‑year term beginning 07/01/2026 and ending 07/01/2027, replacing Austin Sanders, who moved out of the city. Miss Elrod said Wood is a recent Cookeville resident and a faculty member in the biology department at Tennessee Tech University. She also recommended reappointment of Guy Zimmerman to a three‑year term expiring 07/01/2029; Zimmerman told staff he is available and accepted a new term if council so chose.
A motion to approve both the appointment and reappointment was moved and seconded; the council voted 5–0 to confirm both appointments.
