Josh said Hughes and Fleming’s quote was about $130 cheaper per set and that the vendor offered three free oil changes with the purchase. “They’re also offering 3 free oil changes for the purchase of each of the tire,” Josh said. He recommended scheduling replacements before Nov. 1 to reduce risk during inclement weather.
Council members discussed tire speed ratings, 10-ply sidewalls and vendor maintenance commitments, including flat/tire maintenance coverage. After discussion the council moved and approved replacing the tires on both vehicles; the transcript records the approval by voice vote.
Council members did not provide a line-item price per set in the meeting transcript, only the relative $130 difference reported between quotes; the motion directs staff to proceed with purchasing and scheduling installation.
