Board approves reappointments and elects Quentin Jones as vice chair

The Police Accountability Board on Aug. 17 approved reappointments to oversight panels and elected a new vice chair.
Chair opened the meeting and confirmed that Leslie Parker and Brian Cedar had been approved for second terms by the county commissioners. The board then moved and approved reappointments to the Administrative Charging Committee, extending Alexis Billups and Scott Deacon for additional terms. The board also approved extending Stephanie Deal’s term as the citizen representative on the trial board.
Quentin Jones volunteered for the vice chair position and was elected by voice vote. "I'll volunteer," Jones said when nominations were opened; after a brief roll call the chair announced, "You are now the vice chair of the Police Accountability Board." A member registered mild opposition but the appointment was carried.
Chair reminded members that ACC candidates must complete a 40-hour training in Sykesville before serving and directed prospective applicants to the Calvert County website for applications.
The board also welcomed Anthony Green, introduced as a recently appointed member to the ARC board, and asked that outreach and recruitment suggestions be emailed to Michael in HR for coordination.
