Kingsford Heights — The town council voted unanimously Oct. 27 to adopt the 2026 budget as advertised and authorized the clerk to file the adopted budget with the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) within 72 hours.
"Being that no petitions were filed against next year's budget, the council is free to adopt the budget as advertised," the chair said during the meeting. A council member moved to proceed with budget adoption; the motion passed unanimously.
Council members also reviewed a claims docket dated Oct. 27 totaling $155,421.79 (claims numbered 1–686). A motion to accept those claims was made, but the transcript records procedural confusion and the item was postponed for later resolution rather than recorded as approved during this session.
What’s next: The clerk was directed to submit the adopted budget to the DLGF within 72 hours. Council staff will later clarify the status of the presented claims docket and return that item to a future agenda if action is required.
