The volunteer fire department presented a year-end summary to the Milan Town Council, reporting call volume and leadership changes.
Chief (S6) said the department responded to 177 calls in 2025, with March the busiest month (22 calls) and Saturday the busiest day (average 33 runs). S6 recounted 10 structure fires, six vehicle fires, nine gas leaks, 15 CPR runs and 22 lift assists. Mutual aid was provided 25 times to neighboring departments as far away as Aurora. S6 also confirmed internal leadership changes: S6 is serving as chief, Alex as assistant chief, Zach Powell as captain, John Nichols as first lieutenant and Quentin Heehy as second lieutenant.
Council members thanked the department for its service; the council also approved granting five vacation days to Officer Day to accommodate a change in the employee handbook’s accrual timing.
