The Solvang City Council presented a proclamation June 22 honoring Anne McCarty on her retirement after more than 30 years with the North County Crisis and Child Protection Center, including ten years as executive director.
The proclamation, read by Mayor David Brown, credited McCarty with establishing partnerships across Solvang and Santa Barbara County, integrating human-trafficking advocacy into the center's mission, and supporting local efforts on child-abuse prevention. "I, Mayor David Brown, along with the city council of the City of Solvang, California, do hereby honor Anne's leadership," Brown said when presenting the proclamation.
McCarty accepted the honor and reflected on her career. "I when I announced my retirement back in October, I thought, gosh. June will never get here. And here we are, June 22. I've got six days left, and I'm nowhere near being done," she told the council, adding that the work "truly does take a village." She thanked the city for partnerships and support during her tenure.
The council framed the proclamation as recognition of McCarty's local leadership and longstanding collaborations with nonprofit groups and task forces. The declaration was entered into the record and the council moved on to the rest of its agenda.
