County staff reported a post-bid discovery that the initially selected mechanical contractor had omitted a portion of the scoped work. After consultation with the architect and the state’s attorney’s office, staff recommended rescinding the prior notice to proceed and awarding the mechanical contract to the next responsive bidder, Peterson Mechanical, for $3,261,150.
Robert Wilson (staff) said the change increases the total annex remodel project cost to $12,374,191.38, which he said remains below the pre-bid estimate of $12,500,000. The county moved to authorize the Peterson Mechanical notice to proceed and to rescind the previously issued mechanical notice; the motion was seconded and the commission recorded votes and carried the motion.
Staff said the decision followed the county’s procurement review and consultation with legal counsel; the county will proceed with contractor mobilization and coordinate upcoming construction steps.
