At its meeting, the Kirklin council approved several routine payments and took action on utility adjustments.
A motion to approve payment to Umwealth Engineers for $19,109 for sanitary-sewer design and bidding work was moved, seconded and approved; the chair stated, "Motion carries." The council also approved payment of a $2,520 invoice to Eco Infrastructure Solutions that had been submitted late.
The court treasurer presented a $500 quote from Dirty Hands Landscaping to replace dead bushes and install new plantings; the council voted to award the work and authorized the expense.
On utility billing, staff summarized a multi-month leak case involving an apartment at 101 Southgate and the procedure for sewer adjustments. After discussion about documentation and shared meters downtown, councilmembers moved to approve the standard leak adjustments on the agenda and to table an individual request from Tegan Olam until additional information can be provided. The motion to approve the adjustments and table that one item passed.
Why it matters: these votes finalize work and reimbursements tied to ongoing maintenance and small capital work in town, and the tabled adjustment shows the council wants more information before approving one customer request.
