The Kennard Town Board reviewed a digital signature request on July 9 related to the nationwide opioid settlements involving Purdue Pharma. Staff said the paperwork is part of a process in which participating municipalities sign off so settlement disbursements can be processed; for smaller municipalities the county may handle receipt and distribution.
A staff member explained that participating local governments must sign required documents and that, in some cases, the county handles distributions for smaller amounts. Board members raised no objections and directed staff to locate and have the paperwork signed so the town’s portion of any settlement funds can be received or routed appropriately.
Next steps: staff will find the digital document, obtain signatures and file it as required to maintain the town’s participation in settlement disbursements.
