Board honors retiring superintendent Roger Freeman; Freeman outlines district priorities and upcoming ballot question

Superintendent Roger Freeman delivered his final regular board report to the Littleton Elementary School District Governing Board and used the time to summarize recent school activities, encourage voter participation on a district ballot question, and thank staff and volunteers.

Freeman described fall events — school plays, curriculum nights, 9/11 commemorations and Destination nights — and highlighted district student engagement. He drew attention to an upcoming ballot question asking voters to reauthorize additional district assistance (an override) that would support the district’s 1:1 technology program, student transportation, instructional materials and some facility improvements; Freeman said the average impact per household in 2026 would be “about 5 cents a day.” He also reminded families the last day to register to vote was Oct. 7 and that early ballot requests must be made by Oct. 25.

The board presented Freeman with a plaque that read, in part, “Dear Roger Freeman, 2006 to 2024… In grateful recognition of your extraordinary leadership,” thanking him for 19 years as superintendent and his 40 years in public education. Freeman said he will remain available to support the district through December as needed, and the board said an interim superintendent, if approved, will begin attending meetings Oct. 22 and will sit in the superintendent’s seat for the November meeting.
