Chicago — The agenda review committee unanimously adopted RS2 on July 8, a resolution to establish a districtwide mental health awareness day at Chicago Public Schools.
President Sean B. Hardin and other members noted that the idea was brought forward by a student board member; the resolution was cosponsored by Member Singleton, as discussed in committee. The board took an electronic vote and recorded 16 ayes, 0 nays and 0 abstentions.
Members said the awareness day complements broader efforts on educator and student mental health already under discussion in the meeting and urged the district to align implementation with the district’s student well‑being priorities.
