Board grants permission for Oct. 9 event setup, with organizers responsible for liability

The Medora Town Board voted to allow community organizers to set up canopies and tables the evening before a planned event on Oct. 9, provided the setup does not block roads or business access.

A resident organizer (S3) asked for permission to begin setup Thursday evening, two days before the event. Board members discussed logistics including library hours, the school pickup area and whether cones or caution tape would be required. The chair (S2) and other members made clear that the town would not accept liability for equipment placed on public roadways and that organizers should ensure nothing blocks emergency or business access.

One member (S3) said the setup would be limited to tables and small canopies and recommended placing items on the grassy area near the school to avoid blocking parking. After a motion and second, the board voted unanimously to grant permission and clarified that town staff (Josh) would not be held responsible for event setup work.

The board asked organizers to coordinate times and to confirm details with town staff so that safety and access concerns are addressed before setup.
