Board approves new fire pickup, authorizes spare blower purchase and accepts park bid

The fire department presented two quotes for a 3/4-ton crew-cab pickup to replace a decommissioned 1997 vehicle. The board chose the Ford option at $56,089.80 and voted to approve the purchase from budgeted funds.
Wastewater staff reported issues with Blower 2 at the treatment plant and recommended buying a replacement blower that is in stock for a little over $12,000 so the plant will have a backup while repairs proceed. The board approved purchasing the spare unit.
For parks improvements, the board opened bids for the Cap Lounge at Whitefield Park. The single bid from Hill Escobadee was $44,938.53, roughly in line with the engineer's estimate; the board moved to accept the bid.
The board also reviewed bids for a US 35 water and sewer extension to serve an annexed 10-acre parcel. One contractor submitted two options; an apparent lower-price directional-drill bid of $189,412.50 was discussed. The board voted to accept the lower bid pending the engineer's confirmation that a directional approach is feasible for that route.
Each procurement action was entered as a motion and approved by voice vote. The city staff will follow standard documentation and contract processes, and the engineer will confirm method and scope for the US 35 utility extension prior to final award.
