"If the council is willing or wanting, to sign a letter of support, you can direct staff to do so," the council member said.
The mayor asked a technical clarifying question about placement and purpose of the devices (lane‑departure warning in the center line), and several council members expressed no concerns. The clerk concluded that direction was clear and that staff and the mayor should proceed to sign the letter.
What this means: The action is an expression of municipal support for a county grant application and does not by itself authorize construction or spending by Greenfield. Any construction or funding commitments would follow separate project approvals and funding decisions by the county and federal agencies.
