Pool operator reports positive opening, new registration portal and staffing changes

Val Early, representing Southwest Community Aquatics, briefed the council on pool operations for the season. Early said the pool opened on May 5 and that facility improvements included a fresh coat of paint while artistic murals were preserved during the work. Door upgrades remain outstanding.
Early described operational changes: the organization launched a new online registration portal that staff and patrons have received positively, group lessons were shortened to one week for scheduling convenience and a lead-guard program was implemented to provide accountability on every shift. Early said attendance overall has remained consistent with prior seasons but income is slightly down because of a temporary shortage of instructors during a graduation period.
Early also announced recent grant awards from Advanced Health, Wild Rivers Community Foundation and 3 Rivers Foundation to support programming, scholarships and locker-room improvements, and thanked city public works staff for responsive support on heater and other facility issues.
Early said lessons are being released monthly and free family swim on Saturdays continues. She indicated she will return in a few months with another report.
