The Northwest Allen County Schools board approved multiple contracts, purchases and agreements at its June meeting, voting by voice to accept bids and authorize agreements across maintenance, technology and services.
Business presenter Mr. Basham recommended awarding the Carroll High School boiler replacement to Waldinger as the low bidder at $289,400; the board approved the award. He recommended Moore Farm Store for a Cedar Canyon tractor after the apparent low bidder submitted incorrect pricing; the board approved that purchase.
The board approved a renewal/update of the Claim Aid Medicaid-billing agreement to reflect new language required under Senate Bill 200, and approved a professional services agreement with Park Center to support elementary RISE programs.
On technology, the board approved a five-year network licensing agreement with Logicalis. Mr. Basham said the total project cost exceeds $478,000 but that E-Rate reductions bring the district's payable amount to $291,419.20, to be paid in equal installments over five years.
The board designated EMCOR as the guaranteed savings provider for a rooftop-unit project at Carroll High School; Mr. Basham said the provider offers open-book pricing and guaranteed energy/operational savings and that designation does not obligate the district to proceed to a GMP if costs are unfavorable.
The board also approved a 25¢ increase to paid lunch prices after Mr. Basham described district cash-balance metrics and USDA paid-lunch-equity guidance; he said the district's operating balance is about four-and-a-half months and that revenue pressures and higher food costs drove the recommendation.
