Board approves personnel report, including four special education teacher hires

The Manitowoc School District board accepted a personnel report and approved hiring several candidates, including four special education teachers.
Staff said they were able to offer positions they initially thought might not be available and that the district is seeing both more applicants and more qualified candidates. "Just excited to be able to offer some people positions in the district that we initially thought we might have to not have positions for," Stacy said.
A board member noted attrition among special education teachers and asked staff to include the topic in a future policy and personnel committee meeting for further review. The motion to accept the personnel report was made and seconded and the board voted to approve the hires (voice vote).
