Atlanta council adopts 2026 budget and tax rates

The Atlanta Town Council adopted its 2026 appropriations and tax-rate resolution, R-10-2025-01, at an Oct. 13 meeting after the presiding official read the document aloud.
The measure lists fund-by-fund appropriations for the year ending Dec. 31, 2026, including a General Fund amount cited at $397,493 and an overall adopted budget the chair described as $462,679. The chair also read adopted tax-levy figures and a tax levy total reported as $190,001.58 and a tax rate noted as 0.8998.
The chair said the resolution follows the standard state form and must be completed and submitted as described by the Department of Local Government Finance. Committee member S2 moved to approve the resolution; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Council members discussed a bridge match and local road fund items that are contingent on receiving grant funding. The chair noted a $600,000 local bridge match budget entry is contingent on obtaining a paving grant.
The council approved the resolution during the meeting; the town clerk or staff will file the signed form with the Department of Local Government Finance as required.
The council also approved prior meeting minutes in the same session and moved on to reports and other business.
