Resident urges council to drop one-side parking idea for Peppermint Street over safety, mailbox and snow concerns

"It's not safe," Connie said, adding that drivers on that stretch already reach speeds she estimated at 45–50 mph and that consolidating parking would remove visitor parking and force residents to add driveways or move mailboxes. She also described winter concerns: residents sometimes park on yards to let snowplows pass, but plows throwing snow back into those spaces created extra shoveling burdens.
Council members acknowledged the concern and said the street-layout suggestion arose during a broader review of congested streets; they said any changes would need to be examined on a case-by-case basis, considering rear access, alleyways and alternative parking.
No vote or ordinance was taken; staff and council said they will factor the neighborhood's conditions into any future recommendations.
