Lancaster County Board of Equalization approves assessed valuation adjustments after reclassification and administrative omission

The Lancaster County Board of Equalization on July 7 approved multiple assessed valuation adjustments, including a correction for a property the assessor’s office said was inadvertently omitted from the recent revaluation and valuation changes for several parcels newly classified as Greenbelt agricultural property.
Brian Grimm, County Assessor/Register of Deeds Chief Field Deputy, told the board that an inspection identified a change in a property’s Condition, Desirability, and Utility (CDU) rating and that “the property was inadvertently omitted from the revaluation” and should therefore receive the valuation adjustment. The board approved the notice of assessed valuation change for the Hergenrader Family Trust by a 5-0 vote.
Grimm also presented a list of new Greenbelt applications for 2026 and said several parcels showed significant valuation changes because they were reclassified from industrial to agricultural use after staff determined the properties are now used for agricultural purposes. The board approved the notices of assessed valuation change for the listed Greenbelt parcels on a unanimous vote.
The motions to approve the valuation changes were procedural and carried without further public comment. The board’s actions were recorded as formal notices of assessed valuation change; no appeals or further procedural steps were announced during the meeting.
The Board of Equalization opened its meeting at 9:20 a.m. and adjourned at 9:27 a.m.
