Health department staff reported routine summer public-health activity to the Iroquois County Health Committee on July 7, including inspections, outreach and preventive services.
Staff said they issued 19 temporary food permits in advance of the county fair and other summer events, processed two new plan submittals (including a food truck), and completed 20 water-sample kits (13 of those for noncommunity systems such as restaurants on wells). Mosquito trapping increased this month to 32 samples; staff said no West Nile virus was detected.
On public-health services, staff recorded nine adult immunizations (mainly for CNAs entering nursing programs), distributed 23 Narcan kits to Brooklyn Mental Health Center, and issued 11 radon test kits at a recent resource fair. The mobile dental clinic is scheduled for July 27 and is already fully booked, staff said. Senior-services numbers reflected a system migration, with 146 services recorded this month while client data transfer continues.
Committee members asked routine budget and grant-status questions; staff said competitive-grant applications were constrained by payment status but that they had received some awards and an exception allowing them to apply for additional routine grants.
Members requested that staff provide bill and purchase spreadsheets to clarify credit-card charges identified in the claims review later in the meeting.
