A committee member moved to set the fee at $25 per day. “I’ll make a motion. It’s $25,” the member said. The motion was seconded and approved by roll call; the chair later confirmed the motion passed and asked staff to work with county administration to add the fee to the official schedule.
Committee discussion described the local context: only one nearby kennel that holds an Iroquois County license currently charges $25 a day and other commercial kennels outside the county charge more. Shelter staff described current operations—available runs, recent intakes, transfers and the cost of needed repairs and supplies—and said the fee is intended to reflect service costs without directly competing with private kennels.
