Martinez Unified reports improvements on local indicators for 2025–26 school year

Director Espinosa presented Martinez Unified’s 2026–27 local indicators report at the June 22 board meeting, summarizing progress from the prior school year outside of state assessment scores.
Espinosa said the district saw an increase in teachers with clear credentials — indicating improved alignment between teacher certification and assignments — and reported 100% student access to instructional materials and 100% good‑repair ratings for school facilities identified in Williams visits. On school connectedness, Espinosa cited an increase of 2 percentage points among 7th graders, 7 points among 9th graders and 6 points among 11th graders based on the Healthy Kids Survey.
Espinosa described the district’s rating scale (1–5) for implementation and sustainability and said some areas are at full implementation while others remain in development. The presentation was framed as the district’s opportunity to measure progress beyond CAASPP results. Trustees asked clarifying questions; no public comments were offered during the report.
The board later moved to approve the 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan and local indicator report as part of the evening’s action items.
