He said the city abated properties on four occasions during the year for violations of the tall weeds and grass ordinance.
On unsafe structures, Shamball said the department investigated three properties: two resulted in the issuance of orders of enforcement (one for an emergency vacate and repair, another for repair), and a third structure was voluntarily demolished by the property owner. He emphasized those figures are the department’s complaint-based visits and do not include calls or actions handled exclusively by the police department.
Council asked whether members of the public could address the council; there were no public comments recorded on this agenda item. No formal action was taken as a result of the report; it was received for the record.
