Resident asks Tyrone council to expand golf-cart access on local roads

Will Wynn, a Tyrone resident, used the public comment period to ask the council to permit golf carts to travel on more town roads, including routes with posted speed limits up to 45 mph, and to allow additional rail crossings where safely posted.
"My name is Will Wynn. My wife, Jackie, and I are proud residents of Tyrone," Wynn said, asking the council to consider allowing carts on roads beyond the currently designated Sonoya Road and Dogwood Trail corridors. He said one neighbor recently received permission but others had been warned and asked why only certain 750-foot crossing areas were allowed.
Wynn said he had been in contact with CSX Railroad and asked whether additional crossings could be established "as long as they're safely posted." The chair invited Wynn to remain after the meeting for further discussion and offered staff follow-up.
The council did not take immediate action on the request during the meeting; staff offered to meet with Wynn and to discuss the matter further with relevant agencies and the town's traffic and safety plans.
