The Tyrone Town Council adopted revisions to Chapter 30 of the Parks & Recreation ordinance to add a new section addressing special events and facility rentals and to update related sections 30‑2 through 30‑6.
Staff member (speaker 6) presented redline and clean versions and said the new Section 30‑7 specifically addresses special events and facility rentals; other minor edits were made to accommodate the addition. Council members asked where designated tobacco areas would be and whether fireworks or alcohol were allowed under the revised code.
Staff said the tobacco language in the ordinance was unchanged and that the town previously designated specific smoking areas when the police department occupied the building; the town will need to reestablish designated locations as appropriate. On fireworks, staff said fireworks are prohibited for private renters but the town may contract with bonded, insured professionals for town‑sponsored displays. Staff also confirmed that alcohol rules for town facilities and events are governed by a separate ordinance and that council approval is required when town events include alcohol.
After discussion the council member (speaker 2) moved to adopt the proposed revisions to Chapter 30; the motion was seconded and approved.
