Shrewsbury staff recommend Williams Architects, Counsilman‑Hunsaker for aquatic center feasibility study

At the April 14 Board of Aldermen meeting, Parks and Recreation staff recommended Williams Architects, partnered with Counsilman‑Hunsaker, as the preferred team to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed aquatic center in Shrewsbury.

Director Chris Buck told the Board that six firms submitted statements of qualifications and staff narrowed the field to three interviewees before identifying Williams Architects and Counsilman‑Hunsaker as the preferred team based on their experience designing aquatic and recreational facilities in similar-sized communities and Counsilman‑Hunsaker’s reputation in aquatic operations and design.

Staff requested Board approval to proceed with the feasibility study and did not record a final vote on the recommendation during the April 14 session. No cost or contract terms were provided in the meeting record; staff indicated they will move forward pending Board action.
