DoD community medical mission treated 2,785 patients in Henderson-area deployment, county reports

EMA Director Kenny Garrett briefed the Fiscal Court on a recent Department of Defense community training and medical mission led by Team Leader Colonel Peralta that served Henderson, Union and Webster counties. Garrett said the teams saw 2,785 total patients — 2,344 humans and 441 animals — and performed 19,926 procedures with a calculated fair-market value of $5,162,035.
According to Garrett's recap, dental care represented roughly half of the fair-market value, and optometry accounted for approximately $441,000 of the total. The mission provided no-cost medical, dental, vision, audiology, physical therapy and veterinary services while giving troops hands-on deployment readiness training. Garrett said the team thanked Henderson for its hospitality and indicated willingness to return if the county applies for similar services in the future.
