The Board of Aldermen opened the meeting by swearing in Joseph Smith as a firefighter/paramedic.
Fire Chief Chris Amenn reported that the department currently has a vacancy, that a job offer made on Jan. 23 was accepted by a candidate, and that Chief Amenn is awaiting an official retirement date from a current employee before extending a further offer to fill the remaining open position.
The minutes record the swearing-in and the personnel update; they do not record any votes or further personnel actions at the Jan. 27 session.
